Bellingrath Gardens was established by one of the founders of the Coca-Cola company. It is located in Theodore, Alabama along the shores of Fowl River that flows into Mobile Bay. The home was originally a weekend retreat for Bellingrath and his family. After the Great Depression, the home and grounds were opened to the public. It is still a popular South Alabama tourist attraction. Normally the gardens are open from dusk til dawn year round, but at the Christmas season now, they extend their hours so that visitors from all over can come and admire their beautiful Christmas light displays.
